The Giant Eagle Experts: OTO Celebrates National Ice Cream Month

OTO had great success with the 2014 July National Ice Cream Month seasonal event at Giant Eagle. We had phenomenal year-over-year results, adding an additional 300 events from 2013! There were 16 vendors that participated, including Turkey Hill, Talenti, Kemps, Kelloggs and Yasso, to name a few.

The July National Ice Cream event packed the stores to capacity and our field teams did a fantastic job executing these events! Tony Hatok, Category Manager for Frozen at Giant Eagle, provided enormous support for the month-long celebration by scheduling events for own brand ice cream products and recommending vendors to participate. He was extremely pleased with the amount of vendor participation and excellent execution by our field team.

We also received positive feedback from Tom Vanhouten, a broker who brings OTO a vast amount of business. Here’s what Tom had to say about one of the events he attended: “I visited the Waterworks store [in Pittsburgh, PA] yesterday and came upon one of your shining stars—Judi Conley—sampling Friendly’s Ice Cream, Hershey’s Syrup, and Hershey’s Candies. She called me over and served me an awesome sundae. She talked about all of the products and the Ice Cream Month Celebration, handed me a coupon and said thank you for shopping in our great store. We will all win with special people like Judi on the team!”
