Gaining a New Perspective

Evie White, a Sales Specialist at the OTO central office in Pittsburgh, PA, recently had the opportunity to head out into the field and work with Area Manager Wendi Stevenson on two special events in Columbus, Ohio.

The first event was the Giant Eagle wine festival. “I was impressed with the Sales Advisors we had working the event. They were extremely knowledgeable about wine and responded to instruction fluidly,” says Evie. “The event ran smoothly and I could tell the Giant Eagle reps were impressed by our expertise as well as our professionalism. I also enjoyed getting to know Wendi and having a glimpse into her world and the hard work our Area Managers do 24/7. Wendi and I had some time to discuss both our roles and understand each other’s perspectives, which I will absolutely use in my day-to-day.”

The following day, Evie had the opportunity to assist with an in-store event and photo shoot designed to capture images of Interactions-produced display signs and other point-of-purchase merchandise in action. “I had the pleasure of meeting Wendi’s daughter, Jessica Stevenson. She and I worked together to sell Kashi® cereal and breakfast bars—with much success!” says Evie. “Also, the photo shoot gave me a much better understanding of the store layout in terms of cart placement, objections from a sales perspective and how to overcome those objections.”

“On my drive home I thought a lot about how hard our retail team works. I learned so much about staffing needs, the execution of our events and all of the intricacies an Area Manager encounters each day. I absolutely have a new appreciation for my co-workers and the details that go into running a retail team,” adds Evie.
