My goodness—it’s December already and we are gearing up for a huge month of activity in Giant Eagle. And like the tinsel on a holiday tree or sparkling snow on a sunny day, it is your time to shine!
We have some big event weeks coming up, and we’ll be counting on each member of the team make all of our customers feel welcome as they visit your cart. We will have lots of extra shifts available, so if you want to work extra days, you will likely have the opportunity to do so. You will always be given the first chance to work as many events as possible, of course, but when everyone is scheduled and we still need to cover more events, we may have to bring in some extra temporary help. I would like to ask for your help to make the temps feel welcome and to show them the ropes. We want to make sure that every event is great, and with your help and support of any temps, we can make that happen. I really appreciate your focus on that this month.
With December being one of the busiest—and most crowded—times of year at Giant Eagle, you’ll have lots of opportunities to show off a wide selection of delicious treats to shoppers this month. Remember to always take a taste of the items you will be sampling before you start your event. The first taste is always for you so that you can tell customers all about it. Be excited as you tell them how good it is and which flavor is your favorite. Talk about how easy it is to prepare and serve, and how great it would be for a holiday party, dinner, dessert, etc. If you are excited about the product, your customers will be, too.
Also remember to have fun with your events. It makes the day go faster and encourages more sales. After all, we are here to promote items, make the shopping experience fun and sell more product. As our One to One Elves, you have the opportunity to bring some fun and joy to the sales floor every day. Make the most of it. Decorate your cart with poinsettias, wear a Santa hat or an antler headband, and invite customers to try and buy the delicious items you are promoting. Have a great time and make every event a great event!
