For the inaugural Meijer LPGA Classic, Meijer called on Elite Marketing Interactions to support their initiative in hosting a special “Ladies Day Away” event and managing all of their concession stands for the week. The event ran 6 days from Tuesday August 5 through Sunday August 10 with an estimated 40,000 spectators in attendance.
The “Ladies Day Away” event brought in almost 200 participants. They enjoyed an EMI catered breakfast and lunch, in addition to other various activities including a craft/painting activity, a golfing tutorial with a pro, a Q&A session with local LPGA tour member Morgan Pressel and a healthy living class with Meijer’s own dietitian, Shari Steinbach.
For the concession stands, there were a total of nine separate stations consisting of grill stations, snack stations, ice cream stations and a private grill area. Various tasks were performed by EMI associates, from handling cash and selling product at the front of the tent to grilling and prepping sandwiches in the back.
With only four days’ notice prior to the event, the EMI team partnered with sister companies CDS and OTO to make this a “One Daymon” initiative. This truly showcased the ability of different business units to work as one team.
In all, there were a total of 208 shifts filled, 1,721 hours utilized and over $100,000 grossed in sales at the concessions. Great job everyone!
