Always Find a Reason to Win

What does it mean to win? To me, winning means elevating our position with our retail and CPG partners by helping them succeed and achieve their goals. And I believe it is the responsibility of all of us to come into work every day with the goal of identifying and achieving wins. An example clearly demonstrating this happened recently when I received a note from one of our retail teams regarding an interaction between a Sales Advisor and a woman who came in the store to do her regular weekly shopping trip. The story moved me so much that I wanted to use this month’s column as an opportunity to share it with you.

On a Sunday afternoon, Sales Advisor Tammy Sergeyev was working at the Lansdale, PA Weis Markets, where we perform in-store events. While giving a sample of ice cream to a shopper, Tammy learned that it was this woman’s 97th birthday that day. Though the woman insisted that they shouldn’t celebrate until she turned 100, Tammy went well beyond the birthday greeting and before the woman left the store, Tammy purchased her a card and a cake and wished her a Happy Birthday from Weis Markets. This act of kindness didn’t go unnoticed. The woman sent store management a card thanking Weis Markets for giving her the most memorable birthday she has had in a long time. That day, Tammy clearly demonstrated what it means to find a reason to win.

Our company is comprised of thousands of associates who engage with shoppers every day, and who represent not only our company, but also—and more importantly—the retailers and brands we work with. We take pride in recruiting and training the best possible talent so that they can execute the highest level of events, which in turn helps our partners achieve their goals.

Tammy epitomizes what it means to be an Interactions associate. It is effort and awareness like this that create a meaningful difference in the services we provide our constituents.

Way to go, Tammy. We can definitely put one in the win column because of you.
